It's Easy to Support Us
The North Huddersfield Learning Community is holding a 'Winter Warmer' community event at North Huddersfield Trust School on 30th November 2013. We need items for the Tombola, Lucky Dip and Second Hand Book stalls. If you have any items you would like to donate, please contact Lisa Jagger on 07976 497675 or lisa.jagger@kirklees.gov.uk
There are many ways that you may be able to help the North Huddersfield Learning Community and our member schools.
Individuals:
Could you spare an hour a week to become a Reading Friend? We can provide full training and support, and you can help us develop the reading skills of our children by simply spending some time listening to, and supporting a child to read.
Perhaps you are passionate about sport, music or the arts. Would you like to train as a sports coach and help deliver activities after school? Maybe you enjoy gardening and would like to help us grow flowers and vegetables on our school site.
Businesses:
Can you provide work placements for our older students, or perhaps help with holding mock interviews? For our younger children we often like local businesses to come in and explain about their work. Can you help with sponsorship and fundraising – maybe you have a community development department if you are a larger organisation.
Community Organisations:
All of our schools have worked with local community organisations, do you have an idea that could help local schools teach citizenship, or another aspect of the curriculum. Get in touch - we may not be able to deliver every idea, but we will certainly welcome talking to you further.
